Forming a group/band and naming it

Posted by DESHIEL - December 5th, 2013

Sounds very interesting and intriguing.

NG is an excelent starting ground for this kind of experience, because you have no pressure here and you can adapt in a healthy pace.

Well.
I sorta have a general group that I we are thinking of forming a techno group.
Personally, a band is a completely different experience (or at least in my case) where all the members can experience success and plus, with the combined brain power, the music is usually a lot better too.

indeed, there is no place like Newgrounds! excellent starting ground.

Oh you made my one painful memory surfacing:
When I started studying in university, I went to the studio (there's a small audio studio) to ask if they could find me some courses (from the list of additional courses, all music/audio-related) that I could visit and that were fitting for my classical piano keyboard skills. They told me that only synthesizers are used everywhere, and average pianos are all unused. Then they gave me an audition: the turned on some weird simple looping track, seated me in front of a synthesizer (which I was never really familiar with) and made me accompany the music. First I tried to catch the correct frequency and just repeat the melody exactly. Then I realized I just can't do that because the music was too unpredictable to me (I'm used to classical music only), so I made over 9000 errors and made a pitiful sight of myself. Then I said, as a last resort, that if I listen carefully to this track with a pause/resume button for a long time, I could write a score for it. Then they told me that mad keyboard skills are not required (in comparison to classics), and reading/writing music scores is not required, musical education is not required, all that's needed is just enthusiasm and ability to operate an audio editor and synthesizer with versatility. Also I think somewhere before the end of this I just played BWV 847 right on the synth (with kinda improper voice selected, but I just was too flattered and forgot about it), again with 9k mistakes, because the keys were too easy to press, I'm not used to that, and I was seated way too low or way too high, I don't remember, and that didn't impress them. In the end they wrote down my name and e-mail saying they'd contact me if I'd be needed somewhere and I've never heard from them and gave up on joining any bands.

So you came there to offer your piano skills, while they were looking for somebody who's versatile with the hardware.
